About this place
For a taste of seasonal fruit, the parfaits at cafe Tea Time are worth a closer look. One visitor described a seasonal parfait made with several kinds of strawberry, including Kotoka and Amaou, whose different levels of sweetness and acidity made for an enjoyable comparison. Ice cream, smooth pudding and cookies added contrasting textures, too, making it more than just a showcase for the fruit.
A springtime visit brought a sakura parfait, available in limited quantities each day. It featured hojicha sablé topped with a strawberry and white-bean-paste daifuku wrapped in gyuhi, along with salted cherry blossoms. Sakura-paste and milk ice cream, shiratama, arare, kumquat, strawberries and grapes completed the combination. Its gentle sweetness was balanced by the tartness of the fruit, offering a Japanese-style take for those who like to see how the parfait changes with the seasons.
One peach dessert pairs the fruit with chilled soup, compote and milk pudding. The soup brings out peach’s delicate sweetness, while the fruit and pudding make it a dessert to enjoy by the spoonful. Seasonal soda costs ¥630; one visitor paired the peach dessert with peach soda. You can match your drink to the fruit or opt for tea soda instead.
For breakfast or a lighter meal, the Toast Set comes with buttered toast, salad, deli sides and yoghurt. There is also a rolled-omelette set with salad, deli sides and yoghurt, as well as a ham sandwich set with the same accompaniments. These savoury options make the café a choice for breakfast or brunch, not only for a sweet treat.
The café is small, and one visitor reported that it had 3 tables. Its quiet atmosphere may suit a slow pause over a fruit-filled dessert or a solo breakfast.
